This story brings tears to my eyes. I couldn’t even watch the video without shedding a tear. I just don’t understand how people treat other people wrong based on race, sex, age, or economical status!?!?

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Officials at a St. Louis hospital on Thursday defended their actions in the case of a homeless woman who sought treatment for a sprained ankle and died in police custody after being arrested for refusing to leave the emergency room.

An autopsy determined that Anna Brown’s death in a jail cell in September was caused by blood clots that formed in her legs and migrated to her lungs, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The newspaper also obtained surveillance footage of the woman’s final moments. In the video, officers are seen carrying Brown into a jail cell. The cell door closes and Brown is heard moaning and crying.

Brown’s family says authorities treated the 29-year-old mother of two unfairly and have hired a St. Louis-based lawyer, Keith Link. Link did not respond to telephone messages from msnbc.com on Thursday.

The way I see it, Negros don’t behave like any other people on earth. The majority of African Americans are poor unemployed and uneducated. They are mostly urban dwellers living in poor cities abandoned by white’s years ago. In an attempt to show the connection between slavery and today’s African American’s lack of advancement I must use a word I never liked, Negro. Slavery in world history is different, and nothing like the brutality, inhumanity, and dehumanization of American Slavery all of the above experienced, mostly, continuously, by the African-American unlike indentured servants and slaves throughout history suffered as the American black existence in and out of slavery in America. REST IN PEACE ANNA BROWN JUST LIKE TRAYVON MARTIN LOOKS LIKE HE COULD HAVE BEEN MY SON YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD HAVE BEEN MY DAUGHTER…A CHANGE OF POWER IS INEVITABLE TO STOP RELENTLESS CRUELTY AGAINST AFRICAN AMERICANS ESP BLACK YOUTH.

Why are they saying she died of some kind of blood clot and if so wasn’t that the REASON she was seeking medical treatment and could have PREVENTED THIS! My God it is going to be real nice when it is time to stand before God for all this filth that is being done to our neighbors. Love Thy neighbor ! Do unto others the way You want to be treated! The merciful shall obtain mercy! I can’t believe people are this mean, spiteful and hateful and plain just don’t care for one another no longer. Beautiful Princess slide down all the rainbows, walk on the clouds, clothe yourself in the sun and pray a prayer to God for me to still endure in the pollution that is this planet. May Jehovah help us all !

This is really sad. She knew she was injured and did the best she could by going to the hospital, in hopes of getting the care she needed.
It’s too bad that she wasn’t in a position to locate someone outside of the hospital, who could have acted on her behalf.
Maybe the hospital will put new sensitivity measures in place. I’m sure they will if or when her family or friends file a wrongful death lawsuit against the hospital and police department. That’s what I would do if it was one of family members.

It would be appropriate if the FBI became the lead agency for this (murder) case. 1. The doctor(s) and nurse(s) hospital personnel file must be looked at: discipline, training, complaints. 2. Hours worked that day. 3. whereabouts prior coming to work. 3. Credit card purchases. 4. Personal medical history file (prescriptions). 4. Home and job computer / phone forensics. 5. Religion and clubs belong to.
The police officers should have called for a supervisor to respond to the hospital. No need to rush. Gather the facts before you react. Big mistake by the police officers. Could be charged with murder. It sounds like these doctor(s), nurse(s) and police officers stereotype / profiled this woman by guessing and not following guidelines. The only way to stop this behavior is sending all parties involved to prison and the biggest lawsuit in history.
