Jay-Z Supports Gay Marriage

When did hip-hop rappers start supporting gay marriage?

Jay-Z says he STRONGLY believes gay people deserve the right to get married … claiming discriminating against a gay person is the same as discriminating against a black person.

Jay — arguably the most powerful person in hip hop — discussed the issue with CNN … saying President Obama’s decision to come out in support of gay marriage was “the right thing to do.”

“I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love.”

He continued, “That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”

Awkward Moments Between Jay-Z And Freeway At The Made In America Press Conference

Earlier this morning in a not so sunny day in Philadelphia, Jay-Z held a press conference announcing his two day musical festival on Labor Day Weekend entitled Made In America. It started out all good at first, and even the biggest rap snobs were ecstatic to see former Roc-A-Fella artist and Philly native, Freeway,on stage with Jigga.

But then that’s when things got awkward. Check the pics after the jump.

Beyonce Gets Slapped With $100 Mili Lawsuit After Walking Away From Video Game Deal

Bey might be a “Rock Hero” but this gaming company still wants their gold coins

Beyonce has been having one hell of a year. A new baby, hailed as the most beautiful woman on the planet, countless awards and now another milestone to add to the list. A big azz lawsuit. A US judge has given a video game company permission to sue Beyonce for $100 million, according to reports:

The New York Post reports that Manhattan judge Charles Ramos has given software developer Gate Five the go-ahead to proceed with their lawsuit against the ’4′ superstar, after she allegedly pulled out of a deal to create a motion sensing computer game.
Gate Five took legal action last year when they claimed the singer had backed out of a $20 million agreement to feature in Starpower: Beyonce. Beyonce’s lawyers argued that she was entitled to walk away as the company hadn’t finalized its financial agreements, but Gate Five insisted that she had chosen to abandon the project on December 6 2010, even though she knew they were set to sign a funding deal three days later.
Beyonce could now face a date in court after Ramos ruled that the lawsuit should go ahead, as she should have given the company notice of her decision before she withdrew. The lawyer for Gate Five, who claim they were forced to fire 70 employees after the bungled deal, said he was “pleased” with the decision, while representatives for Beyonce declined to comment.

Poor Bey! While we’re sure all the stans would have loved to pretend to be her in the video game; in reality 70 people lost their jobs because she was too busy to be bothered. Do you think the company deserves compensation?

Jay-Z Parties With Solange And Pharrell For New Cognac Launch

Jigga man Jay-Z threw a launch party this week for D’Ussé cognac and from the sound of it, had a blast. Beyonce wasn’t there, but she caught up at the after hours spot.

Even though he’s a co-owner of the New Jersey Nets (soon to be the Brooklyn Nets), Jay-Z made sure all could watch the New York Knicks battle the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA playoffs during a party he hosted for Bacardi’s new cognac, D’Ussé (pronounced Deuce-ay). The rapper brought in flat-screen televisions to the Top of Standard Wednesday night, to make sure guests including Steve Stoute, Kevin Liles, Pharrell and Jake Gyllenhaal could stay tuned in to Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks. Jay-Z’s sister-in-law, Solange Knowles, and mother-in-law, Tina Knowles, were also at the event, but Beyoncé wasn’t there. The new mom of 4-month-old Blue Ivy later met up with her husband at The Darby, where Zoe Saldana, Gerard Butler and Wyclef Jean were also hanging out. Jean gave an impromptu performance of songs from the Fugees with Rachel Brown, the Wednesday night musical act, and the two singers ended her set with a duet of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”

Jay Z Slammed By Racist NY Post Columnist

Not everyone in New York is excited about rap mogul Jay Z taking a more hands on approach with the NY Nets.

NY Post columnist Phil Mushnick rankled readers with a racist, venom-filled column on Jay Z’s minority ownership of the NY Nets.

In his Equal Time column today, Mushnick wrote the following diatribe about the Nets’ new name, cheerleaders and logo which was designed by the aging rap mogul:

“Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York Niggas? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn Bitches or Hoes,” he wrote.

As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?
Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!

Beyonce Joins Twitter, Tumblr; Launches Website Full of Pics

*Stop the presses; Beyonce has joined the social media age.

The notoriously private entertainer has today joined Twitter, Tumblr and launched her own website. She announced the moves with her first tweet:

As press time, with just one tweet in the twitterverse, the @Beyonce account already had more than 3.5 million followers.

Beyonce is also now on Tumblr, which already features a variety of personal pics– including vacations with sister Solange, pics of her arm-in-arm with husband Jay-Z, silly Halloween shots, pregnancy photos, arty still lifes and even a 15-second video in which a visibly pregnant Bey walks by a blue ivy tree.

“Woke up this morning, took a nice little walk and passed by this beautiful blue tree, I think it’s Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate,” she remarks.

The site also has a number of shots of the singer’s nephew, Julez, and in a message entitled, “I Am,” she explains, “This is my life, today, over the years — through my eyes. My family, my travels, my love. This is where I share with you. This will continue to grow as I do. Love, Beyonce.”

And, of course, B.I.C. rocked her usual full body scarf covering (including a peek of her signature color) for the occasion:

Taraji P. Henson, Idris Elba and Gabrielle Union have all recently landed new acting gigs. Get the deet on their projects inside…..

Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson have signed on to star in the Screen Gems produced, Aimee Lagos-written screenplay No Good Deed.

It centers “around a former DA-turned-stay-at-home mom and her two small children who are terrorized and kidnapped from their home when she invites a good-looking mysterious stranger in to wait for help after his car ran off the road.”

Idris will also executive produce the flick which starts shooting soon in Georgia.

And on the small screen…..

Gabrielle Union has signed on to shoot a pilot created by producing/directing duo Mara Brock Akil & Salim Akilfor BET called “Single Black Woman.” Gabby will play a SBF who is the host of a popular Atlanta-based talk show host similar to The Ellen DeGeneres Show. This ought to be interesting…

BONUS:

In case you missed it, director Ryan Murphy has cast Beyonce, along with her good friend Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, and Cameron Diaz in his star-studded musical One Hit Wonders. The story revolves around three washed up singers who each had a big hit in the 1990s, and decide to stage a comeback by forming a supergroup. “SNL” star Andy Samberg will co-star in the film a well.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z Head To Lunch With Baby Blue

It’s B.I.C.’s first outing caught by the paps! New parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted holding their new baby girl extra close while heading out to lunch in New York City this (Saturday) afternoon.

The Carters may have already revealed their personal pics of Blue Ivy to the world, but they had the 7-week-old bundled up head to toe this afternoon to protect her from the nipping 40 degree weather:

Mama Bey rocked her black sneakers while carrying their precious cargo. Jay-Z and security guards remained extra close as the family headed to the West Village to chow down at Sant Ambroeus Restaurant. Cute!

Beyoncé isn’t letting mommyhood slow her down–she’s already got two new projects in the works (including a new album) and just released a preview of House of Dereon’s Spring 2012 collection. And Papa Jay just returned from a whirlwind trip to London to help his Roc Nation signee, Rita Ora, debut her brand new track “Party & Bullsh*t.
