Madam Prezident: 5 reasons Frank Ocean should have stayed in the Closet!!!

1)      Hip-Hop & Homosexuality don’t mix-There are many talented gay people that have not been able to break into mainstream hip-hop.  Hip-Hop is dominated by African Americans who have strived extremely hard to create and protect their image and the fact of the matter is homosexuality has always been shunned upon in the African American community, so the reason Frank Ocean desired to come out the closet is beyond me!

2)      Money- Coming out the closet is going to STOP deals!!!! Frank Ocean should know that once he identifies himself in a particular group-then it’s going to stay with his brand forever! While some men make millions of dollars pretending to be heterosexual-he will never have the opportunity because real women do not have an interest in men who like men!

3)      Collaboration- Artist will not work with Frank Ocean now that he has decided to come out the closet! Again-people have been working for to uphold their image and they will not let a talented new comer ruin it! Frank Ocean has possibly ruined the opportunity to work with several great artists!

4)       Black People Don’t Support Homosexuality- Although Frank is attempting to make a stand; he would have been better off having a seat. Since the beginning of time black people have forbidden homosexuality. White people can be gay and get away with it; black people cannot! The world loves Anderson Cooper, but what black gay man do people love? The ideology that you have to come out the closet is played out-As an artist your only concern should be your art! No-one is entitled to your personal life (Learn from Queen Latifah). Being black in America is hard enough young man; however you have made it a whole lot harder. Robert Downey Jr. was strung out on drugs now he’s America’s Iron Man-Bobby Brown was strung out on drugs and now he’s just another negro who was on top of his career and drugs destroyed it!

5)      You’re an Artist Not A Gay Man-Frank Ocean should know that he is an artist and his sexual preference is not a part of his art! Frank Ocean should realize if you are not trying to be the poster man for Gay Men than you should have kept your personal life personal and professional life professional.  There is nothing bold about coming out the closet; what’s bold is never going into the closet! I wish Mr. Ocean all the best in his career, and I hope God helps him on this new journey which he is about to encounter!

  1. Jennifer says:

Mme Prez, you cannot tell an artist what his concern should be or whether his sexuality is part of his art. Neither can you speak for all women or all Blacks to say they are not interested in or will not support a homosexual man. Artists will not work with him if they want to be homophobic and that is their choice, but it should not dictate his actions. Maybe something is more important to him than mo money. How will people stop being ignorant about homosexuals if they don’t start to see who it is they think they should hate?

  2. Rose says:

Obviously you would rather that this man perpetuate a fraud than be himself and face the consequences. I don’t agree with you, I think your point of view is exactly why people ought to come out of the closet. Why would anyone legitimize bigotry?

    • Shaun says:

I disagree with every reason you have stated……. As Rose said your support for bigotry has be bewildered. As a lesbian woman that have seen you out Madame Less, I believe that the stand he has taken will allow him to be more comfortable with himself and not live a lie. I mean who wants t live a lie? WHats comfortabvle about that? Your narrow mindedness is just one reason why us individuals who are part of the LGBTI community have it difficult! *smh* @ you Madam Prez….. Way to NOT support YOUR community!

  3. Marva says:

I am not even a member of the LGB community and I think your remarks and reasoning behind them are full of stereotypical assumptions that no longer carry much weight in today’s society.

  4. Kristian says:

    1. This is exactly why it was important for him to come out of the closet. It helps change the culture.
    2. If he’s talented he will open doors and he will force the doors open for other gay artists.
    3. Other artists have collaborated and I am betting he has made friends that will change their attitudes a little and continue to work with him.
    4. Again this is why it was important to come out it will change minds in a younger generation and work towards lessening homophobia in the gay community.
    5. Your art is who you are.

  5. Wendy says:

This is a truly bizarre rant. This sounds like it was written 50 years ago. “Real women” don’t like gay men? Speak for your bigoted self only please. Don’t presume to speak for me.

  6. Caleb says:

Are you serious lady?? Who are you to say “since the beginning of time black people were against homosexuality.” Do you speak for all black people? And since when has being gay just been all hunky-dory to white people. I think Matthew Sheperd and others would disagree with you. They certainly didn’t get this acceptance from the white community when he was beaten with a gun and left boarded up to a fence! We get that you are bigoted and close-minded. But speak for yourself, not the entire black community.

  7. Hermes T. says:

Nothing against Frank, actually like the first album. I just don’t see why it’s matters. In all honesty why is their a celebration when somebody comes out and says what they prefer sexually? The rest of the world doesnt care, your actions in the bedroom alone doesn’t better society contrary to popular believe. now it’s gonna be hella awkward listening to your songs.

  8. Orville says:

I think madam president fourth point does have some truth since Anderson Cooper is white and gay it is easier for him than a black gay man. The white gay community also has a history of racism against black gays. Some white gays believe homosexuality is their domain only. I disagree with madam president about Frank decision to come out he has a right to live his truth. Also don’t black women want bisexual men to be honest about themselves? At least Frank is not hiding in the closet like certain black stars such as Tyler Perry and Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott or Da Brat.

  9. Wellalrite says:

Girl please have a seat , matter of fact go to bed and never speak unless spoken to

  10. Philly says:

Whites in this country love to see gay black men, they are more accepting of them…then they are of heterosexual black men!!! And that is because they don’t feel intimidated/threatened by gay black men!!! That’s why there is also a agenda to push that homosexual life style into our community!! As strong black heterosexual man, i have nothing against Frank Ocean for his lifestyle……i just dont condone it and it makes me less likely to listen to it!!!! Real talk

    • Madam Prezident says:

Interesting Mr.Philly (I can dig it)
People must realize my intention was never to be in a box when referencing to homosexuality-In my opinion-I believe his art is his music-you do NOT have to combine the two. Your sexuality and your creativity are separate-don’t feel compelled to incorporate the two! No matter who you are. Business is Business. That’s all I’m saying!

      • 1Lioness says:

I agree with your article Madame Prezident. And for all who say that this article is inaccurate, only time will tell. I did not think at all that you were judging him,as I am not either, but just telling a big point of view, not the only view. And also, yes, there are some agendas out here. As one has said” Why are some breaking out the cake and champagne when one comes out? that is their business. Who you decide to sleep with, if it isn’t ME, is no reason for ME to congratulate YOU…REALLY?

      • Oh Snap! says:

KUDOS TO MADAM AND PHILLY! YES, SPEAK YOUR MIND AND DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE SILENCED BY THE SHEEP WHO ARE ALL DOWN FOR THE GAY AND DL LIFESTYLE. WHY CELEBRATE SOMEBODY BEING GAY? WE DON’T CELEBRATE SOMEBODY BEING STRAIGHT, WE DON’T CELEBRATE SOMEBODY FOR BEING ABSTINENT OR BEING INTO ANIMALS OR KIDS. SEXUALITY IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE REWARDED.
WHILE I DON’T SUPPORT PEOPLE PERPETUATING FRAUD WHEN IT COMES TO WHO THEY REALLY ARE, IN THIS CASE HE COULD HAVE REMAINED A MYSTERY AND JUST MADE GOOD MUSIC THAT DIDN’T REALLY HAVE A STRAIGHT OR GAY BYLINE TO IT.

AND ITS TRUE THAT WHITE GAYS HAVE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BLACK GAYS. HELL, THEY DISCRIMINATE AGAINST BLACKS PERIOD AND ALL OUT DISRESPECT US EVERY TURN THEY GET.

I GIVE IT 5 YEARS AND NO ONE WILL REMEMBER THIS DUDE. HECK I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS UNTIL THE NEWS BROKE ABOUT HIM BEING GAY.

HE KIND OF FIT IN ANYWAY. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT MANY IN THE HIP HOP REALM HAVE GIVEN THEMSELVES OVER TO THE DEMONIC SIDE AND ARE WORSHIPPING THE DEVIL WHO IS GAY.

  11. AP says:

I may not agree with everything but I DO agree with wtf is up with him making a big spectacle of him being GAY? It is like James,Bosh&Wade coming out and still not doing anything. It is like YOU ARE AN ARTIST you are NOT GAY or is THE GAYNESS what you are selling. Many people we KNOW are gay did not have to broadcast it for attention (when you are comfortable who you are you DON’T have to make a GRAND ENTRANCE hence his intro of gayness to the world).

And let’s be clear FRANK OCEAN is NOT HIP HOP. He is a singer he DOES NOT RAP throw him in with the other gay R&B singers but he may not be as polished and stellar as the Freddie Jacksons or Luther Vandross’s. HIP HOP will NEVER EVER EVER EMBRACE HOMOSEXUALITY so all you people waiting for it IT WONT HAPPEN. You see Nicki Minaj tried to come out acting as if she was gay then got mad when people took her serious she denounced that with a quickness (i.e. Her Usher Raymond song Lil Freak her lyrics are quite Bi Sexual or just Gay). Despite there ALREADY being gays in HIPHOP they aint rapping about being gay or having their gay radar on so everyone can see and if a rapper choses to come out and think the HIPHOP community is accepting of it they are WRONG! Maybe have a LGB HIPHOP scene.

These YOUNG people think people will be accepting of everything well sorry THIS WONT FLY I PROMISE you! TRUE HIP HOP HEADS WONT ALLOW IT! Nothing absolutely NOTHING wrong with being GAY if that is what tickle your fancy it is only a sexual preference it is nothing more than that that separates you from being heterosexual and since a lot of HIP HOP does have sexual undertones I don’t think many want to hear somebody rapping about same sex anything. (Women may get a pass but men NO)
He don’t shoot me just staying a close to represented fact but still my opinion!

    • Oh Snap! says:

      100% AGREE

DON’T NOBODY WANNA HEAR A RAP SONG ABOUT SOME NINJA GETTIN’ BLOWN BY ANOTHER DUDE OR SOME CHICK WANNA TO EAT ANOTHER CHICK’S BEAVER.

HIP HOP CELEBRATES STREET LIFE, GETTING MONEY, AND GETTING WOMEN.

IMAGINE IF FIDDY AND JEREMIH WAS RAPPING ABOUT
“I love the way you grind with that DICK on me
DUDE you a dime why you looking lonely”

      OR IF JUVENILE WAS RAPPING
“LITTLE BOY, you looking good won’t you back that thang up”

PLEASE! AINT NOBODY CHECKING FOR THAT MESS

  12. Fatima El says:

I respect anyone who walk and LIVE their TRUTH. He is an artist. He needed to be free.OUR FREEDOM WASNT FREE ITS PAID WITH BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS. TO BE ABLE TO STAND IN OUR TRUTH.

  13. CS says:

Are you actually attempting to compare homosexuality with drug abuse with the comparisons to abusers like Downey and Brown? That is incredibly ridiculous. One is a chemical dependency and one is one’s nature. How dare you? Yes….it is quite true that African Americans do not “embrace” homosexuality however that is not a reason for someone to live a lie and not speak to to power and inspire a young man or woman struggling with his/her sexuality. Homosexuals don’t typically act to be embraced but we DO demand respect. Respect is human. Your “list” is insulting and disappointing.

    • Oh Snap! says:

      @CS
WHY SHOULDN’T SHE COMPARE THE TWO? YOU HAVE NO PROOF THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A PREFERENCE. AS FOR DRUG ADDICTION, IT HAS ALREADY BEEN PROVEN THAT PEOPLE CAN BE BORN ADDICTED TO DRUGS. EVER HEARD THE TERM CRACK BABY OR FETAL ALCHOHOL SYNDROME?

AND RESPECT IS TO BE EARNED. YOU DON’T GET RESPECT JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT IT ANYMORE THAN YOU GET A JOB BECAUSE YOU WANT IT AND YOU DAMN SURE DON’T GET RESPECT JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE A DUDE WHO LIKE TO SUCK DICK OR A FEMALE WHO LIKES STRAP ONS BUT HATES MEN.

THAT LIST IS HONEST AND TRUE. WAKE UP!

  14. CS says:

When one is an artist, he or she is a role model (whether he wants the title or not). “Business might be business” Madam Prezident however maybe…..just maybe his integrity comes before the dollar bill. If the talent is there, he will still be successful. There will always be the closed minded individuals who discriminate solely on the basis of his sex life but I’m sure he’d rather not have those bigoted dollars anyway. I applaud this young man for his courage. The black community needs to “wake up and smell the coffee.” It’s not being ushered into our community by whites, it’s ALWAYS been here. And we are professionals, not the stereotypical hot pants wearing sissy on the corner. We are heading the boardrooms and the classrooms and ALWAYS have been. If a heterosexual man or woman is TRULY comfortable with his/her sexuality a lesbian or gay man is no threat and he/she ought to be able to bob his/her head just as wildly for a gay artist as a straight one.

  15. ?!?!** says:

I disagree that his art and sexuality should be separate. The art is a reflection of who he is; thoughts feelings and sexual orientation included. Homosexuality isn’t accepted in R&B or hip hop currently, but artists like him pave the way for positive change.

  16. You are one stupid bitch says:

This has to be the most ignorant Post I’ve read, he does R&B not hip-hop that’s one. Two he’s an artist he’s not making songs about his sexuality. If he wanted to come out, his choice so shut up

  17. Chris says:

I don’t think you could make yourself sound like more of an ignorant bigot if you tried, not to mention the fact that you’re just making ALL black people look bad with your ridiculous generalizations. I could call you a big fat nigger, but that’s how you were born, so don’t criticize this flash-in-the-pan rapper for being gay, which is how he was born. (Why would he chose to be gay?) I don’t even know who the fuck Frank Ocean is, let alone do I care about his sexual preferences. But as much of a nobody as he is, you’re an even less-relevant, no-talent ass-clown. So shut your fucking hole.

“Real women” (like you???) “don’t like men who like men, eh?” Then how come gay guys tend to have so many female friends? Oh wait, you don’t have any gay friends, do you? Because you’re a bigot. And if Frank Ocean has any dignity whatsoever, then he won’t give a crap about working with bigots like you who wouldn’t want to detract from their wonderful reputation. (Because we all know that retarded thug rappers and their fans have such great reputations)

“Black people don’t support homosexuality”? Well, maybe you don’t, and maybe the close-minded idiots you surround yourself don’t, but whether you’d like to believe it or not, the better part of the country is in support of gays having equal rights and being able to marry each other. (and the rest of you are fighting a losing battle) So go ahead and perpetuate the hypocritical, bigoted ideals of “your people” if you want, but don’t make the mistake of assuming that the rest of the country is as hateful and intolerant as you, you fucking joke of a human being. The reason Frank MIGHT not be accepted is because of people like YOU.

  18. JamesF says:

Madam Prez, it’s because of this way of thinking that there are so many men on the DL! You need AND MANY OTHERS in the black community need to open up your minds and learn to accept people for who they are…especially successful young brothas like Mr Ocean! Then maybe they wouldn’t have to lie about who they really are and creep with dudes while being with women.

  19. shukura says:

They have been pushing homosexuality on the people for years, and now are breaking into the black community. It’s just disgusting I dont agree with sodomy never have never will

  20. CS says:

Are you actually attempting to compare homosexuality with drug abuse by comparing it with drug abusers like Downey and Brown? That is incredibly ridiculous. One is a chemical dependency and one is one’s nature. How dare you? Yes….it is quite true that African Americans do not “embrace” homosexuality however that is not a reason for someone to live a lie and not speak truth to power and inspire a young man or woman struggling with his/her sexuality.
