Lauryn Hill Gets Booed Off The Stage At The Apollo At The Age 13! {Video}

Guess this was part of her “miseducation”

Lauryn Hill Gets Booed Off Of Apollo Stage At Age 13

L-Boogie was just a young girl from dirty Jersey when she took the stage in Harlem’s famed Apollo theater. While she was clearly nervous, she also seemed excited for the opportunity, but she might have bitten off a lil more than she was ready to chew…

No Ball Playing In Harlem: Rucker Park Basketball Tournament Shut Down By NYPD

Well-No ball playing in Harlem! According to Hip-Hop Wired: You can’t say this wasn’t at least a possibility. Yesterday evening (July 30th), the NYPD prevented the Entertainers Basketball Classic from commencing, citing safety concerns, reports DNAInfo. Last week, a suspect now identified as Ricardo Laing of White Plains, NY, shot five people during the tournament held at the legendaryHolcombe Rucker Park in Harlem. Despite additional security being acquired by the tournament’s organizers, the authorities were not having it, and the schedule games were cancelled.

“They came in here and said you have to get out,” said Entertainers founder and CEO Greg Marius. “It’s unfair. We are an international tournament.”

According to Marius, the usually violence free tournament is being unfairly stigmatized.

Marius said he felt police were trying to force him to get people to cooperate with the investigation, a power he feels he doesn’t have.

Police did not immediately comment Monday evening.

Hundreds of people could be seen running during a video of the shooting posted on WorldStarHipHop.com. NBA free agent and former New York Knick Nate Robinson was at the event but was not injured.

Marius said that on the day of the shooting there were fewer police officers and fewer metal barricades than in years past.

On Monday, two police officers stood near the entrance to the court, and a mobile command center and police van and car also sat outside the park.

Marius said the NYPD’s refusal to let the tournament continue was confusing because the alleged shooter is in custody and the gathering is normally free from violence.

“The last fist fight was in 1995 and we’ve never had a shooting,” Marius said. “The movie theater is still open,” he added, referring to the Aurora, Colo. shooting at a showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Marius said three NBA players were interested in stopping by the tournament this week.

“They are not afraid because they know we are a safe tournament,” Marius said.

Some of the disappointed fans that came out to see yesterday’s games included players from a basketball all the way in Italy. Check out some photos from yesterday at Rucker Park in the gallery.

Man Caught On Camera Leaving A Dead Woman’s Body In A Suitcase In Harlem

Sick Sick World. Where the hell is AL Sharpton when you need him? (jus kidding)

He tried to roll his troubles away.

But ex-con Hassan Malik was sentenced to 20 years prison today for the suitcase he abandoned on an East Harlem street just before Christmas in 2010 — for admittedly murdering the woman stuffed inside of it.

“I apologize to the family of Betty Williams, for what happened,” Malik, 57, sobbed as he was sentenced by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon.

“That’s not me, and it hurts,” he cried.

Malik had admittedly bludgeoned Williams, 28, with a frying pan and strangled her with a cord in his Pleasant Avenue apartment, telling cops later that he’d fought with her after he caught her trying to steal his money.

He then stuffed the woman, fully clothed, into a suitcase, rolled her to East 114th Street, and left her there.

A neighborhood resident opened the abandoned suitcase to peek inside — and Williams’ leg popped out, cops said.

“He’s very distraught. He’s very upset. I don’t know where this came from,” said defense lawyer Kevin Canfield, describing his client as a Navy ‘Nam vet and former semi-pro basketball player from Florida.

“He’s actually a really nice guy.”

It was sidewalk surveillance video that did Williams in — images of Malik’s co-defendant buying the suitcase, and more images of the large, hunched Malik wheeling it down the sidewalk.

The co-defendant — who happened to be in the room during the murder — is charged with tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution. His name is being withheld by The Post because he cooperated with the authorities.

“I’m the one dragging the bag,” Malik finally admitted to cops, according to his confession.

SMH at the way he keeps trying to say this isht ain’t in his character. Almost makes us wonder how many suitcases he left out on the streets. Hope this guy gets what is coming to him, in jail or in hell.

Newbie Rapper Azealia Banks GETS FLIRTY For “T” Magazine

Buzz-worthy rapper Azealia Banks dons a sexy bodysuit for the latest issue of “T” Magazine.  See the pic and find out about her Harlem-upbringing inside…..

Harlem bred rapper Azealia Banks, who calls herself the “Young Rapunxel,” posed for a Terry Richardson photo inThe New York Times ”T” Magazine (on newsstands now).  She rocked a Rochas bodysuit with Dolce & Gabbana shoes and Solange Azagury-Partridge earrings for the shoot.

The up and coming rap chick has made a name for herself with her different rap style & beats and starting beef with other female rappers.

Inside the magazine, she talks about growing up with money in a poor area of Harlem:

“We lived in Harlem just, like, at the beginning of its gentrification…but my mom had our apartment since she was 18, she worked a retail job, but she worked on commission, so she made like, maybe, 75 or $80,000 a year, but our rent was so cheap since it was, like, rent-controlled, so our rent was, like, $300 a month for a two-bedroom apartment, so we always had extra money.”

She continued on how her mother spoiled her with everything a girl could want:

“I grew up very spoiled…like I had everything: I had computers, I had video games, I had dress-up clothes, I had lipstick, I had heels—not like, actual heels, play heels—I had dolls, I had birds, I had hamsters—my mom did a really good job of keeping me stimulated.”

Yep sure sounds like it.  Now the “212″ chick is in London where she has been embraced by fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. “Europe and the U.K. have just been sucking me up,” she joked.

Her album Broke with Expensive Taste (due September) to drop so we can see what the hype is about.
