Four Gay Men Are Suing Ex-Therapists Who Promised To Help ‘Turn Them Straight’!!

It was worth a shot, wasn’t it?!?!

A group of men are taking therapists to court for deceiving them after the promise to help them ‘overcome unwanted attractions’ failed…SMH.

According to The New York Times,

In New Jersey on Tuesday, four gay men who tried the therapy filed a civil suit against a prominent counseling group, charging it with deceptive practices under the state’s Consumer Fraud Act.

The former clients said they were emotionally scarred by false promises of inner transformation and humiliating techniques that included stripping naked in front of the counselor and beating effigies of their mothers. They paid thousands of dollars in fees over time, they said, only to be told that the lack of change in their feelings was their own fault.

Since the 1970s, when mainstream mental health associations stopped branding homosexuality as a disorder, a small network of renegade therapists, conservative religious leaders, and self-identified “life coaches” have continued to argue that it is not inborn, but an aberration rooted in childhood trauma. Homosexuality is caused, these therapists say, by a stifling of normal masculine development, often by distant fathers and overbearing mothers, or by early physical abuse.

But leading scientific and medical groups say that the theories of homosexuality are unfounded and that there is no evidence that core inner-urges can be changed. They also warn that the therapy can, in the words of the American Psychiatric Association, cause “depression, anxiety, and self-destructive behavior” and “reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient.”

One former patient in the suit, Michael Ferguson, 30, who is now a doctoral candidate in neuroscience at the University of Utah, sought help from Jonah in 2008. He tried to battle his homosexuality, he said, when he was a practicing Mormon who believed that only those in a heterosexual marriage could achieve eternal bliss.

“It becomes fraudulent, even cruel,” he said in an interview. “To say that if you really want to change you could — that’s an awful thing to tell somebody.”

“I was encouraged to develop anger and rage toward my parents,” he added. “The notion that your parents caused this is a horrible lie. They ask you to blame your mother for being loving and wonderful.”

Another former patient in the suit, Chaim Levin, 23, grew up in an Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn where, he said, being gay seemed unthinkable.

Referred to Jonah by a rabbi when he was 18, Mr. Levin began attending weekend retreats at $650 each. For a year and a half, he had weekly private sessions with Mr. Downing as well as weekly group sessions. He quit, he said, after Mr. Downing had him remove his clothes and touch himself, saying it would help him reconnect with his masculinity.

Mr. Levin said that he was abused by a relative between the ages of 6 and 10 and that Mr. Goldberg and Mr. Downing blamed the abuse for his homosexual attractions. “Saying the abuse made you gay is terrible,” Mr. Levin said. “Once I accepted that I was gay, I was able to focus on the more serious problem of a history of abuse.”

Do you think it’s worth the ‘effort’ for men to try therapy in order to change their feelings for other men?

77-Year-Old Woman Suffering From Dementia Shoots Hubby To Death Then Continues Cooking Him Dinner

Keep feeding you and feeding you and feeding you. This poor woman murked her hubby after suffering decades of abuse during their 54 year marriage, and the control he had over her was so strong she continued to cook meals for him even after killing him!

Via NYDailyNews reports:

A New Jersey woman charged with the fatal shooting of her husband continued cooking him meals for two days after his death in a tragic case tied to her dementia, her family said.

Fredericka Rosa, 77, was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the death of her husband, Valpa Rosa Sr., the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.

Authorities allege she used a .357 Magnum revolver to shoot her 79-year-old husband in their Pemberton Township home on July 19, according to the South Jersey Times. Investigators reportedly found gunshot wounds to Valpa Rosa’s head and neck.

Their children told NBC 10 Philadelphia they know why it happened: Fredericka Rosa suffered abuse from her husband during their 54-year marriage.

“He drove her insane,” daughter Rosetta Rosa told NBC 10. “He drove her to the point where she picked up the gun and shot him.”

“I understand why my mama did it,” Valpa Rosa Jr. added.

The children also said she suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

For 48 hours after the elder Rosa died, his wife continued making him food and then called other family members to ask why he hadn’t returned home for dinner, the Burlington County Times reported Wednesday.

The retired postal worker’s corpse remained in the home until the children called police on July 21, authorities said.

Rosa remains free on $150,000 bail and is awaiting an arraignment date.

What a sad story, we pray she gets some help. Dementia and Alzheimer’s are both horrible illnesses, we know her kids must be really going through it right now.

Gay Couple Suing Republican Lawmaker In Colorado For Using Engagement Picture In Campaign

Damn, these politicians stay smearing, and unfortunately this gay couple from Jersey is the butt of one Colorado smear campaign.

According to The Denver Channel:

A gay couple from New Jersey is suing a group that used their engagement photo in an attack mailer against a Republican Colorado state lawmaker who supported civil unions this year. Brian Edwards and Tom Privitere, and their attorneys, talked about the lawsuit Wednesday outside federal court in Denver.

“It brought back feelings of bullying in my childhood, which was startling to us,” Edward said. “Tom and I both cringe now when we see our engagement photo, a photo which will forever live on the Internet as a message of hate.” The Southern Poverty Law Center is filing the lawsuit on behalf of the couple against the Virginia-based Public Advocate of the United States.

The couple was originally photographed kissing with a New York City skyline as a backdrop. The couple shared the engagement photo with family and friends through Edwards’ blog, along with photos of the couple’s wedding ceremony. The photo was altered and the couple was superimposed against a snowy backdrop with the words “State Senator Jean White’s Idea Of ‘Family Values?’”

The photo was used in mailers in a June primary election involving Republicans Jean White of Hayden and Jeff Hare of Greeley. White was one of a handful of Republicans who supported a civil union bill that was blocked in the state House. “I cringe every time I look at what once was one of our favorite photos,” Edwards said. “All I see now is the defiled image used to attack our family and our community. All we want is justice for the pain that Public Advocate has caused us.”

“This case is about the defilement of a beautiful moment by a group known for demonizing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community,” said Christine P. Sun, SPLC deputy legal director. “This was just a cheap way for Public Advocate to avoid having to pay for a stock photo to use in their hateful anti-gay attack ad. It was nothing short of theft.” The SPLC has labeled Public Advocate as a hate group.

New Jersey Teenager Dies After Sticking Head Out Of Bus And Hitting Highway Overpass

God bless this family,

New Jersey Teenager Dies After Sticking His Head Out Of Bus, Hits Overpass

A teenager headed to a Sweet 16 party was killed after he stuck his head out of the emergency hatch of a double-decker bus and hit the underside of a highway overpass, police said.

Daniel Fernandez, of Sayreville, N.J., was among 65 teens aboard the bus Friday night as it crossed the George Washington Bridge from New York City, said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police. The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The accident occurred at the Fletcher Avenue overpass of Interstate 95 at about 6:30 p.m.

Alex Franco, a security guard on the bus, told the Daily News that he had warned the teens to leave the hatch alone.

“I told them not to open the hatch, like three or four times, but kids, they don’t understand,” he said.

Franco said he went downstairs to tell the driver that it was getting too hot.

“It was very hot. Everybody was dancing. Two, five minutes I was downstairs,” he said. “Then I heard two guys screaming, ‘Oh, my God, oh, my God.’”

Designer Transportation, which operates the bus, expressed its “deepest heartfelt sympathy” for the boy’s family. It says it plans to conduct an internal investigation.

This is sad, and condolences to the family and friends that had to witness such a brutal death. That said, what the HELL was this kid thinking!?

Woman Suffers From Climaxing 100 Times A Day

Sounds pretty exciting, right? Well not according to this nurse who feels agony with sexual pleasure.

Kim Ramsey, 44, feels constantly aroused and the slightest movement can trigger a climax. Trains, driving and even housework start the reaction. But unlike women who yearn for the “Yes, yes!” experience, Kim just thinks “Oh no!” The “busting” leaves her in pain, exhausted and unable to have a normal relationship. She said: “Other women wonder how come — I wonder how to stop mine.”

Kim was diagnosed with incurable Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder. Doctors blame spinal cysts caused when she fell down stairs ten years ago. Kim, from Hitchin, Herts, but now living in Montclair, New Jersey, US, first had problems after sex with a new boyfriend in 2008. She said: “I had constant climaxes for four days. I thought I was going mad. It also happened with a new partner and I even tried sitting on frozen peas.”

PEOPLE might joke but this condition is no laughing matter for sufferers. They find it difficult to talk about the problem, fearing people will laugh or think they are a sex maniac.

First Military Same Sex Wedding

Air Force Serviceman Has First Same Sex Wedding On Military Base

Gay matrimony-dom has officially arrived in the U.S. military! The recent marriage of one New Jersey military couple highlights the major changes brought about by the end of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”. Here’s their story:

When Tech. Sgt. Erwynn Umali and civilian Will Behrens wanted to seal their commitment in a civil union in New Jersey, they chose a venue that nine months ago would have been unthinkable: a military base.

The grooms said their vows on June 23 before 150 guests at the chapel at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst — the first time a civil union or gay wedding has been held in such a facility in the United States.

While the couple says there’s still a larger battle to be won before they can live in true domestic bliss, they hope the significance of that ceremony will not be lost on others in the military who want to live openly.

“It’s a struggle that Will and I have gone through and so many people are going through,” Umali, an active-duty serviceman in the Air Force, told the Daily News on Wednesday. “Now I can introduce Will as my partner or my husband instead of my friend or my boyfriend. We don’t have to live in fear.”

The U.S. military ended its 18-year-long “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy last September, allowing homosexuals to serve openly without the possibility of getting discharged.

Civil unions have been allowed in New Jersey since 2007. Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a bill in February that would have went a step further, making same-sex marriages legal.

Umali, 34, and Behrens, 35, still wanted a wedding for their civil union. The ceremony was captured by Jeff Sheng, a Los Angeles photographer who did a series on closeted service members.

Umali said coming out to his squadron wasn’t a problem for him, and when he introduced Behrens as his fiance, people applauded.

“Prior to doing all this, we were nervous,” said Behrens, who works in the financial industry. “We talked about losing our families, and there are plenty of people we know who are living a hidden relationship and they’re worried that their family will disown them.”

At their wedding last month, Umali wore his Air Force uniform, Behrens dressed in a tux.

Navy Chaplain Kay Reeb, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, officiated the union.

Absent from the festivities were the two grooms’ parents. Behrens’ said his father and mother disapprove of his relationship. Umali, who was born in the Philippines, said his parents are still struggling with his sexuality, although they’ve met Behrens.

Part of the struggle is that both men were previously married to women and each had two children.

They also grew up in religious families. They even met each other in 2006 through a church in southern New Jersey, where Behrens was the choir director.

At the time, Umali was divorced, while Behrens was still married.

After years of a friendship that grew into a relationship, Behrens came clean to his wife and his family.

While others have celebrated their relationship, they recognize that not everyone will be so accepting.

After the ceremony, the couple took their kids for a vacation to Disneyland, where a man in a U.S. Marines Corps shirt sneered his disapproval at them, Behrens said.

“We shrugged it off,” he added.

Heartwarming or horrible sign of the times? We’re not casting judgment, just want to hear your opinion.

While Eric Was Married To Jennifer-He Had A Love Child!!!!

Just when you thought the Eric and Jennifer saga was over, the plot thickens…

According to TMZ reports:

Former NBA star Eric Williams — the estranged husband of “BB Wives” star Jennifer Williams — allegedly had a secret child in 2011 … and now the baby mama wants him to pony up some child support ASAP.

Tavia Serena Cannon filed a Complaint for Support in PA last week, she claims she had a child with Eric in October 2011. Cannon says she makes $300/week babysitting and wants Williams to fork over some cash and medical coverage for the kid.

Here’s the rub … at the time the baby was allegedly conceived — Jan/Feb 2011 — the former NBAer was still married to Jennifer … who didn’t file for divorce until June 2011.

Sources close to Jennifer tell TMZ this news comes as a shock. They claim the “BB Wife” had NO CLUE about the child. Their divorce is still pending in a NJ court.

Bet Jenn wishes she had known this prior to the divorce, she probably could have taken every red cent that this knot-head negro had!

NJ Man Sues Walmart For $1M Two Years After Racist Intercom Comments

Remember this story???

Wal-Mart is being sued for $1 million by a man who claims he was traumatized by a racist comment made over an intercom at a southern New Jersey store two years ago.
Donnell Battie, of Winslow, accuses Wal-Mart of being negligent in failing to control access to the store’s intercom, which was used to broadcast an announcement ordering all black people to leave the Washington Township store. A 16-year-old boy was arrested days later and charged with harassment and bias intimidation.

Wal-Mart spokesman Greg Rossiter tells the Courier-Post the firm has apologized and has worked to prevent it from happening again. Battie claims he has needed medical care due to the March 2010 comment. He says it caused him “severe and disabling emotional and psychological harm.”
