Rihanna And Oprah Kickin It In Barbados

Oprah And Rihanna Ride Around In Barbados

The queen of talk show will sit down with the pop princess bad-girl later on this month for the first time.

But before the interview hits the airwaves, Rih and Oprah wanted to give us a sneak peek.

Showing how much of a fan she is, Oprah excitedly tweeted a photo of she and Rihanna smiling, exclaiming, “Look who’s driving me around Barbados!” The “Umbrella” singer posted the same photo with, “Look who popped up in my Hometown BARBADOS #topnotch.”

The in-depth interview will be the first for the pair. After the 2009 Grammy assault of the star by Chris Brown, Oprah dedicated an episode of her talk show to domestic violence.

Her message was, ” If you go back with a man who hits you, it’s because you don’t think you’re worthy of being with a man who won’t. I’ve said before, ‘Love doesn’t hurt, and if a man hits you once, he will hit you again.’ “

After recent rumors that the Rihanna has been seeing her attacker again, the powerhouse host is bound to inquire.

Oprah Offends Indians With Her “Ignorant” Comments

Oprah Winfrey Criticized For Ignorant Treatment Of Indian Culture In TV Special

Oprah has made a huge cultural fail with her latest “Oprah’s Next Chapter” segment which was taped in India. Apparently she’s not quite as cultured as she thought she was — at least that’s how the folks over there feel:

The smell of incense (tick), the sari fitting (tick), the aspirations of slum dwellers (tick), and the glitz of Bollywood (tick). Let’s not forget arranged marriages and the fact that Indians, even rich ones, “still” eat with their hands (tick, tick).

India as Westerners imagine it, one stereotype at a time.

This is how many in India responded to the two India-focused episodes of her primetime series “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” which aired over the weekend.

In India, the people she interacted with ranged from a family of five living in a 10-foot-by-10-foot room in a Mumbai slum, to Bollywood aristocracy, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan.

While her show mainly targets a mainstream American audience, many criticized Ms. Winfrey for choosing to project such a caricaturized image of India to the world.

“The avg American thinking of India as a place with snake charmers and elephants as main mode of transport, I can understand. But Oprah???” said user Nandita Iyer on Twitter.

“Honestly, this Oprah winfrey has made such a royal fool of herself with this,” she added.

“An unflattering, outmoded, selective and clichéd representation” of India, is how one commentator, Gargi Gupta, described the first episode of the television show.

Camera shots of “roadside cows chomping on garbage and roads choked with traffic,” are just some aspects of the show that Ms. Gupta said may make Indian viewers “groan.”

The show wasn’t a complete write-off for Ms. Gupta, however. She found Ms. Winfrey’s approach tactful when she asked slum dwellers about their hopes and fears. “It suggests a respect for human sensitivities that television anchors in India… would do well to learn,” she writes in a piece published in the Business Standard.

Not all were so kind.

For Rajyasree Sen, the show didn’t have a single redeeming feature.

“Myopic, unaware, ignorant and gauche. This was Middle America at its best worst,” wrote Ms. Sen of the show’s first episode in a column on Firstpost.

She found Ms. Winfrey’s comment on Indians still eating with their hands particularly offensive. “I don’t know what people in America are eating their hot dogs, pizzas and tacos with but perhaps Oprah’s home has evolved cutlery for all that,” she writes.

Many on Twitter agreed. “You still eat with your hands? – The shocking arrogance of a clueless rich woman,” wrote Aseem Chhabra.

SMH, Oprah is really striking out with the brown folks… First she lost her black audience when she started catering to the white stay at home moms and now the Indian ladies are pissed she’s acting too good to eat with her hands!

Oprah Interviews 50 Cent!!!

Look out Floyd, 50 has teamed up with Oprah for the real money team!

It’s been a long-time coming but 50 Cent will be reconciling with mega-mogul Oprah on Sunday’s episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”

After telling the Associated Press in 2006 that Oprah’s show lacked of guest diversity because she was “catering to old white women,” the G-Unit rapper, real name Curis Jackson, will sit down with Oprah in a one-on-one interview at his grandma’s house.

In a recent visit to “The View,” Fif said he actually named his dog Oprah so that he could learn to love something named as such. “It started out negative ’cause I thought Oprah didn’t like hip-hop culture,” he said. “I got the dog and now I love Oprah.”

50 won’t be the only Jackson to appear on the show. Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris will also be featured. The episode airs June 10.

Looks like Oprah is adding some diversity to her lineup and bringing back her popular interview series to regain some traction for her failing network. Will you be tuning into Oprah’s Next Chapter? Hit the flip for a preview of the episode next…

Celebrities Celebrate The 80th Birthday Of Ambassador Andrew Young

Celebrity guests partied in Atlanta last night at The Andrew Young Foundation’s celebration of the 80th birthday of Ambassador Andrew Young.  I would have paid money to hear a conversation between Tiny & Oprah.  Oprah would have SO asked for a translator and meant no shade by it.

The Ambassador celebrated the evening with his wife Carolyn Young.

Oprah Winfrey was among the celebs at The Hyatt Regency Atlanta to pay tribute.

India.Arie was there to present a musical tribute.

And actor Tyrese also performed.

He later got Oprah dancing on the floor.  Clearly she knows fineness when she sees it.

Chris Tucker rocked a powder blue suit for the party.

Producer Dallas Austin was there too.

Judge Glenda Hatchett put on her good church boot and showed support.

Think Like A Man producer Will Packer was there.

“The Biggest Loser” trainer Dolvett Quince walked the red carpet.

Martn Luther King III arrived with Arndrea.

And Jasmine Guy looked good, finally, in a silver gown.

New Book Claims Michelle Obama And Oprah Were Beefin’ And Fighting Over Barack

First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey are not all smiles and buddy-buddy as they’d like us all to believe according to a new book titled “The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House” by Ed Klein. The two female powerhouses have allegedly had some ugly beef before and after Barack Obama was elected president:

Michelle allegedly insulted Oprah’s weight at one point, with Oprah claiming that the First Lady “hates fat people.”

The book, due out this week, is excerpted in Sunday’s New York Post.

When Obama gained Oprah’s endorsement for the 2008 presidential election, the talk show queen enjoyed a close relationship with both the future president and his wife. But once the election was over, the author claims that Michelle and her staff rudely pushed Oprah aside, while the president remained close to the talk show titan.

In one particularly outrageous allegation, Klein writes that Michelle turned down Oprah’s invitation to appear on her TV show to discuss childhood obesity, one of many causes adopted by the First Lady.

The book claims that Oprah then raged: “Michelle hates fat people and doesn’t want me waddling around the White House!”

Klein, a regular contributor to Vanity Fair, follows that allegation with another bombshell, writing that Michelle told her staff: “Oprah, with her yo-yo dieting and huge girth, is a terrible role model. Kids will look at Oprah, who’s rich and famous and huge, and figure it’s OK to be fat.”

But wait it gets nastier!! Oprah had some tricks up her sleeves too apparently…

One unnamed source in Klein’s book even charges that Michelle believes Oprah allegedly encouraged Hillary Clinton to run against President Obama in the upcoming election.

Klein and his sources contend that the President has remained close to Oprah but that Michelle started pushing her away shortly after the 2008 election, refusing to return calls and instead letting aides deal with Oprah.

What’s more, as Oprah prepared to interview Michelle at that time, she was forced to get approval of her interview questions from Jeff Stephens.

The book also contends that two of Michelle’s advisers were unhappy with Oprah’s influence and that the talk show host was so comfortable with her access to the President, she had a plan to redecorate the Lincoln bedroom!

The author quotes sources close to Oprah claiming that Michelle is “very jealous” and lacks trust in her husband.

These sources also contend that the president phones Oprah late at night and asks for advice to improve his popularity, a move that does not sit well with the First Lady.

“Michelle thinks he should turn to her, not Oprah, for that kind of advice,” the book quotes an anonymous source. The President asked his wife to make peace with Oprah, sources tell the author, and that is why Michelle taped a May, 2011 interview for one of Oprah’s final shows.

That peace offering has done nothing to stem the now-ingrained dislike that both women have for each other, according to Klein.

Don’t believe it-My first lady and Oprah are too classy for these silly allegations!

Oprah’s SIT DOWN With Bobbi Kristina

According to theybf:

Sunday evening, Oprah Winfrey’s OWN aired her much-anticipated interview with Whitney Houston’sdaughter Bobbi Kristina.  Watch it inside…..

Oprah Winfrey sat down with Gary and Patricia Houston as well as 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, who is living in Atlanta, for a taped interview that aired on OWN Sunday evening.

During the emotional chat, Bobbi talked about her mom’s passing saying,

“I’m doing as good as I possibly can at this point. I’m just trying to keep going.  I can sing her music, but to hear it now, I can’t. I can hear her voice telling me, ‘Keep moving, baby. I got you.’ She’s always with me. I can always feel her with me. She used to always say, ‘Do you need me?’ And I said, ‘I always need you.'”

She added,

“I feel her pass through me all the time. I wake up at night…She would say at 5 a.m. the saints start praying. I wake up now and look at the clock and it’s 5 o’clock. I start praying.”

She also said, “Lights turn on and off and I’m like, ‘Mom, what are you doing?  I can still laugh with her and still talk to her.”

Surprisingly, Bobbi says she didn’t understand her mom’s impact.

“I just saw her as mom. The first time I saw her as a worldwide icon was when we went on tour. And the funeral. She made an impact not only on a few people. She made an impact on the world.”

The last time Bobbi Kristina saw Whitney was when they spent the entire day and night in Whitney’s arms, as the two were never at a loss of showing love to each other.  So what’s next for Whitney’s only child, who by the way admitted to being slightly rebellious with her mother but no one else?  Bobbi Kris revealed:

“I have to carry on the legacy. We’re gonna do the singing thing. Some acting, some dancing.  It’s a lot of pressure, but she prepared me for it.”

Whitney’s manager/sister in law Patricia (far left in above photo) revealed that both Whitney’s and Bobby’s families got together to do an intervention, after discovering their drug issues in the 90’s, on the couple back in the 2004.  She also alluded to Whit’s dangerous relationship with Ray-J saying that Whitney was chasing a dream with a young man who was always out and about.  And that she was searching for love in all the wrong places.

And that now infamous night where Whitney was spotted looking a bit frazzled after a party, Pat admitted Whit had exchanged words with an “X-Factor” contestant (Stacy Francis) and it went too far.  Ray-J was rumored to be involved in that as well.

Pat also described Whitney’s disturbing death revealing that Pat’s own brother (Whitney’s security guard) Raywas out of breath attempting to revive Whitney.  She says she has closure, but wishes she could bring Whitney back just so Cissy could see her.

Cissy Houston, via a pre-taped phone convo with Oprah, said she does not believe the funeral home released Whitney’s casket picture.

Gary Houston, Whitney’s brother, cleared up the confusion about Bobby Brown‘s funeral drama saying the family NEVER banned Bobby from the services.

Watch parts of the interview below (the interview in full will be posted as soon as it’s available) with Bobbi Kristina’s portion, as well as Gary revealing that Cissy told the family, off instinct, before Whitney’s death that Whitney wouldn’t be with them for too much longer:

Oprah’s longtime partner Stedman Graham made the cover of the April 2012 issue of O magazine.  The couple, who have been together for 25-years, dish on Oprah’s cooking in the issue.  Yes….Oprah cooks y’all.

Mr. Graham said, “Chefs don’t have anything on her.  She makes great pancakes, too. She makes great eggs, she makes great steaks—I mean, you could go on and on and on.”

Now that’s love.  Speaking of that, Oprah also talks about her “Love Sandwich,” the twosome’s Saturday afternoon staple.

“It became the Love Sandwich because I first started making it just for Stedman,” Oprah reveals in the issue. “I’ve only made it for a couple of other people, so if you’ve had me make the Love Sandwich for you, you have to be somebody I really care about.”
