Terrell Owens Signs A 1-Year Deal With The Seattle Seahawks!

Finally T-Owens gets a gig!

Terrell Owens Agrees To A 1-Year Contract With The Seattle Seahawks

Terrell Eldorado Owens last caught an NFL pass on Dec. 12, 2010. He did so for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 23-7 loss. It was a 22-yarder against one of the NFL’s best defenses, and some 37-year-old receivers would consider that a good way to go out. Not T.O., though. After rehabbing a knee injury and entering into a contentious relationship with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League, Owens finally has the shot he’s been waiting for.

The Seattle Seahawks brought Owens into their Renton, Wash., facility on Monday to see what the six-time Pro Bowler had left in the tank. As one source told Shutdown Corner, Owens ran a 4.5-40 in his Seahawks workout, and the team started to talk terms. Per Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Owens has agreed to a one-year deal with Seattle.

When Shutdown Corner caught up with Owens in early July at Travelle Gaines’ training facility in Los Angeles, he seemed relaxed and confident regarding his recovery from injury, and his eventual return to the league.

“I’ve been trying to keep in shape since I had my knee surgery, I started my rehab in Carson [Calif.] with Athletes Performance, and Travelle was very instrumental in that process,” Owens said. “Along with some of the guys in Pensacola, Florida. But I developed a great relationship with Travelle, and we’re going to continue that here at Performance Gaines.”

But how much does Owens have to offer, even if he manages to be a good citizen on and off the field? He caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Bengals in 2010, but in his October 2011 post-surgery public workout — which brought more interest from the NFL Network than from the NFL itself — Owens looked like a player still very much on the mend. He struggled to accelerate and get separation, and seemed a step slow through the process. Perhaps a healthier Owens will have more to give.

“I know how the business works,” Owens told Shutdown Corner. “I’m just hoping that someone can give me a chance. I’m just going to continue to work hard, training camp is going to come up here pretty soon, there are going to be injuries, and things of that nature. I know that there are some teams that need a veteran receiver — whether it’s a No. 1, 2 or 3 — I feel like I can fill all those voids.”

Another Athlete On Their Way To The Slammer: Terrell Owens!!!

T.O is off the chain-or shall I say he will soon be in chains!

According to theybf:

Former NFL player Terrell Owens could face jail time for missing an important court date and being late on child support.

NFL superstar Terrell “T.O.” Owens missed his child support hearing at the Fulton County Courtroom on Thursday in Atlanta and now Judge John Goger is pissed.  By the way, Melanie Smith, the mother of his 7-year-old daughter, says he’s $20,000 behind on child support…..so she’s pissed too.

“It’s a tragedy, not only that we are here today; this is the third case she has had to file in the last year,” said Melanie’s attorney Randy Kessler.

T.O.’s case was reset for July 19 and he could face jail time if he misses that one.

“We are hoping next week the case will come to a resolution and Mr. Owens will pay and pay every month,”said Randy.

When you decide to have umpteen kids, you gotta be OK with paying umpteen stacks of cash for them too.

Mississippi School Handcuffs Students To Railing For Disciplinary Reasons-Not Anymore!!!

Public schools in Jackson, Miss., will no longer be allowed to handcuff students to poles or other objects, under a settlement with the Southern Poverty Law Center reached in U.S. District Court. Jody Owens, director of the Mississippi office of the Southern Poverty Law Center, said the Capital City Alternatives school in Mississippi’s largest district must immediately stop handcuffing students, a practice used to punish even such things as dress-code violations.

“The focus should be education, not incarceration and it’s tantamount to child abuse when children are handcuffed to railings for something as simple as not having the appropriate belt or inappropriate shoe strings,” Owens said. The way students had been disciplined in the school was abusive, she said. “We have some students who have gone on record to say it’s happened to them three or four days in a row,” Owens said. “We know there are some students who actually had to eat their lunch with one hand handcuffed to a railing.”

According to the settlement, approved by U.S. District Judge Tom Lee, district employees will stop handcuffing students younger than 13, and can only handcuff older students for crimes, and no student may be handcuffed to railings, poles, desks, chairs or other objects. “It’s apparent there were severe problems that we hope now are being addressed and will be alleviated,” Lee told lawyers in court Friday, just before signing the settlement order.

CCA Principal Marie Harris said in her deposition that some did handcuff students, but that it was done for student safety. The ruling requires the school to change its approach in dealing with emotionally challenged students. The school was ordered to conduct a “climate assessment” that includes students, parents and teachers, as well as a mandate that all teachers be trained to deal with students with emotional and behavioral management problems, Owens said.
