Pink Is The New Face Of Cover Girl!

Pop Star Pink Is The New Face Of Cover Girl

After taking some time off the scene to enjoy mommy hood with her 1-year-old daughter Willow and spend time with her on-again boo thang Carey Hart, singer Pink is back like she never left as the newest spokesmodel for CoverGirl.

When you think of CoverGirl, your mind doesn’t automatically shift to duct tape pasties, subversive pop-rock music and neon bouffant hair. So, if you’re like us, you’ll have to rewire your brain to adjust to the makeup brand’s latest campaign face announced today: Pink.

The singer follows in the footsteps of former CoverGirl models Taylor Swift, Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah, Sofia Vergara and Ellen Degeneres — not exactly what we imagine is Pink’s kind of crowd. CoverGirl normally opts for the all-American, sweet-as-apple-pie appeal in its ads, so we’re pretty excited that the brand mixed things up this time.

Pink’s campaign will be billed as “beauty with an edge,” so we’re pretty sure she wont be too overwhelmed with pastel colors and angelic photo filters.

We think she fits in quite well. Congrats.

R.I.P. Female Rap Pioneer Miss Melodie

Sad news for hip-hop.

Sources close to TheUrbanDaily have confirmed that rapper Ms. Melodie, (born Ramona Parker) has died. Ms. Melodie was the ex-wife of rapper KRS-ONE and was a member of Boogie Down Productions.

Ms. Melodie released her first single in 1988 called “Hype According to Ms. Melodie” and one album, Diva in 1989 on Jive Records. Her video “Live On Stage” was one of her biggest hits and she made a memorable appearance on the 1989 single “Self Destruction” and has a cameo in Queen Latifah’s video “Ladies First.”

Singer Monifah and fellow BDP rapper D-Nice both posted tweets regarding the hip-hop pioneer’s death:

D-Nice also added, “I had a pleasant conversation w/ Ms. Melodie a month ago. The last thing she said me to me was “I’m proud of you.” The love we all had for each other was genuine. Along the way, some of us lost focus. The love in my heart remained. Scott La Rock, KRS-One, D-Nice, Ms Melodie, & the rest of the BDP crew will always be a part of hip-hip history.”

Ms Melodie was a native of Brooklyn, NY and is survived by two sons. There is no cause of death known at this time.

Our prayers are definitely with Ms. Melodie’s family at this time.

R.I.P.

The Queen Is Ready To Play The Role Of Parenting To Her Own Child: She’s Ready To Be A Mommy

According to Bossip:

The stork is coming to Hollyweird! And it should be making a stop at Queen Latifah’s crib very soon:

Queen Latifah has babies on the brain.

The Ice Age: Continental Drift star, 42, is set on the plan she’s had for years to adopt a child, she said on Wednesday’s The View.

“I’m actually kind of working on that,” Latifah told co-host Barbara Walters when, according to ET, she was asked if it’s something she seriously considers. “I just always wanted to bring a child home.”

While a rep for the star tells PEOPLE there’s “nothing new to report” in Latifah’s apparent adoption process, the aspiring mom tells Walters, “I’m totally serious, so if you got a kid that you don’t … just give me a year – let me set up camp and send me the kid. But no, no [I'm] totally [serious about adopting].”

We gotta wonder if the Queen is gonna do this on the solo dolo tip or if girlfriend Eboni Nichols is in on the plans.

Check out some pics of the two of them eating with a friend in L.A. in June below:

Madam Prezident: 5 reasons Frank Ocean should have stayed in the Closet!!!

1)      Hip-Hop & Homosexuality don’t mix-There are many talented gay people that have not been able to break into mainstream hip-hop.  Hip-Hop is dominated by African Americans who have strived extremely hard to create and protect their image and the fact of the matter is homosexuality has always been shunned upon in the African American community, so the reason Frank Ocean desired to come out the closet is beyond me!

2)      Money- Coming out the closet is going to STOP deals!!!! Frank Ocean should know that once he identifies himself in a particular group-then it’s going to stay with his brand forever! While some men make millions of dollars pretending to be heterosexual-he will never have the opportunity because real women do not have an interest in men who like men!

3)      Collaboration- Artist will not work with Frank Ocean now that he has decided to come out the closet! Again-people have been working for to uphold their image and they will not let a talented new comer ruin it! Frank Ocean has possibly ruined the opportunity to work with several great artists!

4)       Black People Don’t Support Homosexuality- Although Frank is attempting to make a stand; he would have been better off having a seat. Since the beginning of time black people have forbidden homosexuality. White people can be gay and get away with it; black people cannot! The world loves Anderson Cooper, but what black gay man do people love? The ideology that you have to come out the closet is played out-As an artist your only concern should be your art! No-one is entitled to your personal life (Learn from Queen Latifah). Being black in America is hard enough young man; however you have made it a whole lot harder. Robert Downey Jr. was strung out on drugs now he’s America’s Iron Man-Bobby Brown was strung out on drugs and now he’s just another negro who was on top of his career and drugs destroyed it!

5)      You’re an Artist Not A Gay Man-Frank Ocean should know that he is an artist and his sexual preference is not a part of his art! Frank Ocean should realize if you are not trying to be the poster man for Gay Men than you should have kept your personal life personal and professional life professional.  There is nothing bold about coming out the closet; what’s bold is never going into the closet! I wish Mr. Ocean all the best in his career, and I hope God helps him on this new journey which he is about to encounter!
